The Sámi School Board is a government authority with its office, including the school principal, controllers, HR, and administrators located in Jåhkåmåhkke.

The Sámi school is an educational form equivalent to primary school, offering instruction from preschool to grade 6. The foundation of the education is the Sámi culture and the Sámi language according to the curriculum for Sámi schools. The Sámi School Board also operates preschools in agreement with the respective municipalities. The Sámi School Board has operations in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sámi School Board organizes distance education in the Sámi languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sámi education.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Employment for studies with a salary of 20% and language support in educational activities of 10% totaling 30%

Employment conditions:
You will be employed at one of our schools or preschools and work as a language supporter for 4 hours per week, scheduled in agreement with the principal of the unit.
The position is a temporary employment in the form of a substitute. You will be employed for one school year at a time with the possibility of extension, provided that you continue your studies and that the necessary decisions within the Sámi School Board are made.

QUALIFICATIONS

You must be admitted to and enrolled in a preschool teacher education, primary school teacher education, or an education for leisure home teachers.

The studies can be distance learning or at a study location, but you must have the opportunity to work in our operations every week. Therefore, we primarily reach out to those residing in one of the locations where we operate our schools and preschools.

Good knowledge of one of the Sámi varieties is a requirement. You must be able to use Sámi as a working language.
A documented good ability to collaborate is a requirement.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You have a positive view of people, a genuine interest in pedagogy, and the development of children and students. You have good Sámi cultural competence and enjoy working with children and youth.

We would like you to have upper secondary studies in Sámi or be able to validate your competence with the help of the Sámi School Board. You do not have any previous pedagogical education at the university level.
We would appreciate it if you could work extra in our operations during your studies, but it is not a requirement.

The Sámi School Board applies individual salary setting.
