Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

The Southern Norrland Probation Service covers the counties of Dalarna, Gävleborg, and Jämtland and has staffed offices in Östersund, Hudiksvall, Gävle, and Falun. The Probation Service conducts personal investigations and supervises clients who are conditionally released, under probation, or sentenced to community service, or monitored with the help of an electronic bracelet/intensive supervision. The Probation Service also works with various treatment programs. Approximately 130 employees and nine managers work within the Southern Norrland Probation Service to reduce clients' recidivism and thereby increase safety in society.

The Falun Probation Office is located in central Falun and serves the entire Dalarna region. The office consists of about 50 employees and has been newly renovated into a more open office environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients and clients sentenced to probation who are under supervision. The Probation Service is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as an electronic bracelet, and community service. The work within the probation service also includes investigative work in the form of risk and needs assessments, establishing plans for enforcement, and personal investigations. In your work, you may need to collaborate with other actors to help clients receive the support they need.

You will also serve in the Probation Control and Preparedness (FKB). This involves, for example, making planned and unplanned home visits during youth supervision, visiting workplaces during community service, and conducting sobriety checks on clients with electronic monitoring at home. The checks may require some work during evenings and weekends.

As a probation officer, you will actively participate in influence work directed at clients, including structured case management conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison. The probation officer is responsible for ensuring that the client fulfills their sentence/obligation and coordinates all efforts in the client's enforcement plan. The work as a probation officer consists of two equally important parts of both support and control. If the client does not comply with their supervision, the probation officer must be able to manage non-compliance in accordance with prescribed guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has;

• An academic degree (at least bachelor's level) such as a behavioral scientist, lawyer, social worker, or in social sciences, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by Kriminalvården.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• A valid driver's license (B).

We consider it an advantage if you have;

• Well-documented work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
• Experience in investigative work and preparing materials for decision-making.
• Experience in case management within public operations with authority exercise.
• Relevant language skills.
