About the Orthopedic Department

The orthopedic department is part of the orthopedic area at Östersund Hospital. The department is divided into acute, elective, and geriatric sections. Within the sections, we work in cross-functional team constellations. You will work with nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. Connected to the department are also pharmacists, staffing assistants, and nurses with leadership assignments as nurse leaders.

We continuously conduct improvement work and perform daily risk assessments of both the work environment and patient safety. This is done, among other things, through work with the green cross. We care for patients with various orthopedic conditions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre- and post-operative care and nursing
  • Pain relief and medication management
  • Dressing changes and wound care, especially after surgeries
  • Rehabilitation support where the nurse collaborates with physiotherapists and occupational therapists
  • Nursing assessments and follow-ups, in close collaboration with doctors and other professional groups
  • Daily documentation and record-keeping
  • Risk assessments and care prevention
  • Participation in improvement work and quality development related to patient safety and work environment
  • Internal training in orthopedics, both in theoretical and practical form/via simulation exercises.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered nurse, experience is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability
  • Fluent in the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
