We are looking for nurses for specialized palliative inpatient care

The Palliative Care Unit PAVA is a department within the surgical area at Östersund Hospital. PAVA has 8 beds for specialized palliative inpatient care for patients within the surgical division (orthopedics, women's clinic, eye/ear, and surgery). At PAVA, you will meet patients with palliative care needs and their relatives. Care is provided in a person-centered manner, and the work is done in teams with nursing assistants, doctors, and social workers. The team also includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and dietitians. In your daily work, you will be responsible for the care of four patients together with two nursing assistants.

As an employee, you will participate in developing palliative inpatient care in the Jämtland-Härjedalen region together with the unit's lead nurse and staff from the specialized palliative home care unit Storsjögläntan. PAVA operates 24/7, and you will work night shifts as agreed. Weekend work occurs on two weekends every five weeks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will independently and in teams work to meet the individual care needs of patients. In dialogue with patients/relatives, provide support for optimal participation and strive for person-centered care based on a palliative approach.

Your nursing responsibilities include patient-centered care work. With structured working methods, you will identify palliative care needs together with the team, prescribe and prioritize preventive measures. You will be responsible for medication management, including injections, infusions, and pain pumps. You will work in a team and collaborate closely with nursing assistants, doctors, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians.

Introduction will take place together with the lead nurse and the ward nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse; if you also have a specialist education in palliative care, it is an advantage. An interest in palliative care is important to us.
