With us, you help build a municipality where a holistic view, commitment, and professionalism permeate the organization, and together we work to fulfill our common societal mission.

Do you want to be a reliable adult for young people and be there when it really matters? We are looking for a field assistant who, with commitment, attentiveness, and presence, wants to meet children and young people in their everyday lives and contribute to a safer society.

Our Unit

The Safety and Security Unit belongs to the municipal executive office, which is one of our six offices in Upplands-Bro municipality. The unit consists of 11 employees with functions in both safety and security. The field group consists of four field assistants. The work is based at the Safety Center in Bro center.

Job Description

The field group in Upplands-Bro municipality works proactively and preventively with young people, primarily aged 13-18 years. By working broadly and proactively with the entire youth group, the field assistants identify the general needs to improve young people's living conditions. Additionally, they meet young people who are at risk of developing unfavorably and identify the specific needs of these youths. One goal of the fieldwork is to prevent young people from developing social problems and to catch those where such development has already begun, in order to provide support and guidance. It is important to build meaningful relationships with the young people encountered, and all contact is voluntary. Some outreach work is also directed towards younger children or the target group of parents. Upplands-Bro municipality works in accordance with the EST method, Effective Coordination for Safety, and as a field assistant, you play an important role in this work. You will also be part of safety-promoting initiatives such as safety walks and various types of community meetings.

About the Work:

  • Collaboration occurs with many other professionals, and the field group works closely with schools, police, leisure activities, and social services.
  • Contact with parents and other important adults is also part of the fieldwork. The work is conducted at individual, group, and structural levels. This means that the outreach work is complemented by holding training sessions (for young people and staff), participating in meetings, and leading and participating in various collaboration forums.
  • The work takes place during daytime, evenings, and weekends. During the daytime, fieldwork is often conducted in various schools. In the evenings and weekends, the field group moves around the municipality between different places where children and young people gather, such as outdoor meeting places, events, and youth centers.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a social worker, behavioral scientist, social educator, or has another equivalent qualification.
  • Has experience working with children and/or young people.
  • Holds a valid driver's license (B).
  • Has a very good ability to establish contact and build trusting relationships with young people and other professionals.
  • Is a reliable, clear, and stable adult in interactions with young people and has a good understanding of youth cultures.
  • Is easy to collaborate with and contributes to joint solutions in interdisciplinary contexts.
  • Takes initiative, is curious, and drives the work forward in an independent and responsible manner.
  • Is social, communicative, and comfortable speaking in front of groups.
  • Works flexibly and creatively and adapts well to changing situations and needs.

Meritorious:

  • Has experience working in municipal operations, fieldwork, or other outreach and preventive initiatives aimed at children and young people.
  • Experience collaborating with schools, social services, leisure activities, or non-profit organizations.
