Job Responsibilities

As the unit manager in the department for sustainability, quality, and board, you are responsible for leading, organizing, and following up on the unit's work in line with the board's goals, the administration's priorities, and the department's mission.

In this role, you contribute to and coordinate the development of the administration's work with analysis, follow-up, project management, and organizational development. You also support the organization in developing needs-driven and user-oriented working methods, for example through service design. The social services are undergoing extensive transformation work, and the unit is tasked with strengthening support for transformation and implementation of new legislation.

A central part of the assignment is to coordinate and prioritize the unit's support to the areas of Children and Family and Adults. The unit provides qualified support related to the core missions of the operations, including areas such as human rights, migration, and law.

You are also responsible for coordinating the administration's work with research and development and collaborating with universities and other external actors to translate research, evidence, and proven experience into practical change work.

Your role includes being a strategic partner to the department head and contributing to cross-administrative governance, prioritized analysis assignments, and development work. You lead the unit's employees and are responsible for budget, work environment, and resource planning in a knowledge-intensive and changing environment.

Qualifications

For the role of unit manager, we are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree and documented experience in managerial positions with responsibility for personnel, finances, and work environment. You have experience leading change and are accustomed to working in politically governed organizations, preferably in staff or development functions. Excellent knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, are essential. It is advantageous if you have leadership or management training and expertise in areas such as organizational development, innovation, and change management, as well as experience from social services or related fields.

As a leader, you are confident and possess a high degree of personal maturity. You are courageous, self-driven, and clear in your communication, with a pedagogical ability that makes it easy for others to understand direction and goals. You build good relationships and collaborate both internally and externally. A structured working method and the ability to see the whole picture are important qualities for success in this role.

About the Workplace

The department for sustainability, quality, and board consists of four units with broad and varied assignments that include social sustainable development, board administration, case preparation, and support and analysis for the administration's development and quality work. The department is part of the staff and constitutes one of nine departments within the labor market and social administration. Together, we work to create good conditions for managers, employees, and the board to succeed in their assignments and contribute to a socially sustainable city for all Malmö residents.
