Your role with us

As a unit manager for meals, you are responsible for leading the work within ten kitchens located in various places around Kristianstad Municipality. It is your task to lead and motivate your employees towards set goals. Within the unit, there are kitchens that serve both primary schools and elderly care.

In this role, you have budget and operational responsibility as well as personnel and work environment responsibility for approximately 25 employees in functions such as head cooks, cooks, and kitchen assistants. Leadership is central and strongly prioritized in this role. You coordinate, create engagement, and participation in your group, allowing your employees to grow and take responsibility.

You will also lead development and become an important part of the group of unit managers consisting of you and your seven unit manager colleagues. In this group, you are expected to actively contribute to good cooperation and shared understanding between the units. Together, you will develop the meal offering with a focus on good taste, health, sustainability, quality, and with core operations in focus and Kristianstad Municipality's vision and Shared Services' overall goals as a starting point.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is an experienced, confident, and clear leader who leads with trust and has a good ability to inspire, support, and develop employees. You have a good ability to switch between long-term development work and daily leadership. It is also important that you have a strong interest and commitment to food and meals and have a drive to move the work forward. As a person, you are strategic, goal- and result-oriented, and structured. You find it easy to create relationships and collaborations but also enjoy working independently.

You have a university degree in nutrition and meal science, YH education in gastronomy, or other relevant education combined with work experience that the employer deems equivalent. We want you to have several years of experience leading employees where full responsibility for personnel, budget, and operations has been included. We also want you to have extensive experience in handling personnel matters. Experience in leading and being responsible for large kitchen staff is required in this role, and if you have previous experience working in a large kitchen, it is an advantage. Experience in purchasing and finance is a requirement, as well as knowledge of laws in the meal area.

If you have completed leadership training, it is an advantage, as is experience working in public operations. Experience in work environment efforts and collaboration with trade unions is also an advantage. We would also like you to have experience in change management.

The role requires that you have good communication skills and can express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Of course, you have good computer skills and handle the Office package in your daily work, and experience with meal data programs is an advantage. You who apply to us have a B driver's license to easily get around to your kitchens and practice a present leadership style.

Since the meal operations are conducted within schools and preschools, you will need to present a criminal record check according to the provisions in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act if you are offered employment.
