Do you want to help drive Malmö's work on sustainability and safety?

The Sustainability Department drives the city's strategic work in areas such as rights issues, local development, preparedness, and security. We are now expanding with a new unit and are looking for someone who wants to lead change and take a place in Malmö's future!

Responsibilities

Together with your managerial colleagues and employees, you will work with governance and support processes in areas such as sustainability, area development, rights issues, national minorities, collaboration with civil society, as well as crime prevention and safety-promoting initiatives - issues that are highly prioritized for Malmö city's future development.

You will lead the unit with nine employees, with full managerial responsibility, through your roles as operational manager, employer, and leader.

You are part of the city office and work closely with other administrations in Malmö city and actors in civil society.

The department and unit are undergoing a change process that requires leadership that provides structure, direction, and strengthens collaborations. You will be part of the management team of the Sustainability Department together with the sustainability director and two other unit managers, where you will jointly develop strategies and working methods for the entire department.

Qualifications

We are looking for a manager who can navigate complexity and create conditions for sustainable development. The role requires the ability to direct, drive, and create results, engage and involve employees, and work with continuous development and improvement.

To be considered for the position, the following is also required:

  • Academic degree in a relevant field for the position, such as political science, economics, law, or similar with a societal focus.
  • Documented managerial experience, including operational responsibility, personnel responsibility, work environment responsibility, and budget responsibility.
  • Security and good experience in employer responsibility.
  • Experience working in a politically governed organization.
  • Familiarity with preparing matters for political boards/committees.
  • Documented experience of having worked with change management with good results.
  • A commitment to sustainability issues.
  • Very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

It is an advantage if you have experience leading specialists/experts.

About the workplace

The City Office directs, challenges, and strengthens the development power in the organization, in the city, and in the region. We are the administration of the municipal council and work with a holistic perspective close to the city's leadership. The City Office consists of seven different departments and has a total of about 300 employees. Our departments work within a wide range of areas and the administration has many employees with high specialist competence.
