Welcome to us
The City Museum is the city's expert body in the cultural heritage field and is responsible for the overall knowledge building regarding the city's cultural environments.
We provide support in cultural heritage issues to the city as a manager and as a developer of buildings and environments. The City Museum is responsible for the classification and reporting of the city's cultural historical values. The classification helps to highlight cultural historical issues in the city's development.
We are now looking for reinforcement for the extensive efforts required to ensure that the city's valuable environments are fully identified and that there is knowledge material that is relevant and useful for these environments based on the city's various needs!
We offer
We are looking for new colleagues for the City Museum's work in developing cultural heritage materials for the city's planning and development. We currently have 16 people working with cultural heritage issues – in the coming years we need to grow. We offer several project positions focusing on our work with inventory and classification of Stockholm's cultural environments. The City Museum Cultural Heritage has the following main assignments:
- Inventory and classification of the city's cultural environments
- Cultural heritage materials in the city's planning and development
- Stockholm's cultural heritage map (the City Museum's classification map) and related information in the Building Register
- Referral management regarding planning and building permit issues, reservation issues, and other referrals regarding valuable cultural environments
- To assist the city's administrations and companies with advice and support in cultural heritage issues
- To assist the city's administrations and companies in developing cultural heritage materials
- Coordination of the department's assignment activities within cultural heritage, cultural heritage, and cultural care.
The unit City Museum Cultural Heritage is part of the Museums and Art department, which is part of the Culture Administration in Stockholm.
Your role
We are looking for new colleagues – building conservators, cultural geographers, and equivalent competencies in the cultural heritage field – who want to help build knowledge about Stockholm's cultural environments!
Your main tasks will be to:
- Plan and produce conservation knowledge materials
- Conduct inventories, preliminary investigations, cultural heritage analyses, and impact assessments
- Act as support in cultural heritage issues to colleagues within the city
- Project management
- Contribute to development and continuous improvements within the unit's working methods and fields
Reporting will be to the unit manager, project leaders, and the unit's coordinator.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for building conservators, cultural geographers, and equivalent competencies in the cultural heritage field.
The position requires that you have:
- Relevant higher education in the cultural heritage field.
- Experience in cultural heritage work within private and/or public sectors.
- Experience in producing conservation knowledge materials and conducting conservation inventories, preliminary investigations, cultural heritage analyses, and impact assessments for various types of cultural environments including green environments.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both written and oral.
- Good knowledge of cultural heritage conservation laws, regulations, and policies.
- Good knowledge of architectural history, cultural history, and building history.
It is an advantage if you have additional education in subjects such as cultural heritage, archaeology, architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, cultural geography, garden history, etc., as well as if you are a certified expert in cultural values.
