About the position

As a municipal lawyer, your task is to be legally knowledgeable and assist the municipal executive, committees, administrations, and companies with legal advice. Your duties include handling and presenting matters before political decisions and acting as a representative for the municipality in court. You will work closely with both the political leadership and the administrative management.

The municipal lawyer assists the municipal management with qualified investigative work and is expected to participate in training employees and elected officials. As a municipal lawyer, you will work within a broad legal field but with an extended responsibility for, among other things, procurement law and property law issues.

Examples of tasks:

• be legally knowledgeable and assist the municipal executive, committees, administrations, and companies with legal advice and handling
• assist the municipal management with qualified investigative work
• training of employees and elected officials primarily in the areas of public access and confidentiality, municipal and administrative law
• represent the municipality in court

About the workplace

The municipal executive leads and coordinates the municipality's activities and is responsible for the municipality's overall and long-term strategic development. You will work in the legal unit together with five other lawyers, including a chief lawyer and unit manager. The workplace is attractively located in beautiful premises in the Town Hall in the heart of Örebro.

Qualifications

The position of municipal lawyer involves work in a multifaceted organization and requires the ability to quickly understand legal issues both broadly and in depth, which demands flexibility and independence. It is important that you as a municipal lawyer actively follow legal developments and take the initiatives necessary for the municipality to stay updated on the applicable regulations.

In the role, you are required to have a consultative working method as well as the ability to take your own initiatives and independently drive issues within your area. You are analytical, efficient, and meticulous and have high integrity. You can structure complex issues and communicate solutions clearly both verbally and in writing. It is an advantage if you have a strong interest in social issues and find it stimulating to work in a politically governed organization.

Requirements:

• law degree
• experience of qualified legal work

Meritorious:

• experience of working in public administration
• experience from areas such as municipal law, general administrative law, public access and confidentiality, public procurement, and property law
