IT Architects Wanted at the Swedish Armed Forces
The Swedish Armed Forces (FM) is now seeking several experienced and senior IT architects with various competence profiles, such as enterprise architect, business architect, information architect, solution architect, infrastructure architect, or equivalent, for the new Architecture Section of the Cyber Unit to contribute to the development of FM's digitalization capabilities. You want to actively participate in our change and digitalization work with a focus on creating conditions for the Armed Forces as part of total defense and Sweden as part of NATO.
The Architecture Section
FM is conducting extensive change work to digitize and transform the organization. As part of this effort, a new program department will be established at the Armed Forces Headquarters Cyber Unit. The program department will be responsible for driving larger programs and projects aimed at creating conditions for, and driving the digitalization of FM's operations.
Initially, the program department will be responsible for a larger program, but in the long run, the intention is for the department to oversee several programs for the digitalization of FM's operations. The department will consist of three sections, of which the Architecture Section is one.
The primary task of the Architecture Section is to ensure an architectural roadmap focused on creating the greatest possible operational benefit for invested resources within the ICT area. The Architecture Section has overall responsibility for directing, managing, monitoring, and supporting the development and management of the Armed Forces' IT architecture at a strategic level, ensuring it supports the Armed Forces' goals, strategy, and digital transformation. We are looking for IT architects with various competence profiles who can collectively contribute to a comprehensive architectural effort regarding operational and technological development, such as enterprise architect, business architect, information architect, solution architect, and infrastructure architect.
Main Responsibilities
Together with the head and colleagues in the newly established Architecture Section, you will contribute to the Armed Forces' IT architecture capability by establishing and developing architectural work within the Cyber Unit's area of responsibility with a focus on a holistic view.
You will act as an advisor to department and section management on strategic issues and establish and lead relevant forums.
Together with your colleagues, you will help ensure that the architecture supports the organization's goals, strategy, and digital development, as well as coordinate business, information, application, and technical architecture.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Relevant academic degree, preferably in IT, e.g., computer or systems science, or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
- Several years of current and relevant experience as an architect, e.g., enterprise architect, business architect, information architect, solution architect, infrastructure architect, or equivalent
- Several years of experience in architectural work and architectural governance in large organizations
- Experience in change management in larger organizations with both business and IT perspectives
- Experience communicating complex issues to management, decision-makers, and employees with both business and IT expertise
- Experience in organizations with high demands on information and IT security
Meritorious
- Certification as chief architect, business architect, information architect, solution architect, or equivalent
- Experience in FM operations, public sector, and collaboration with other authorities
- Experience in operations covered by security protection legislation
- Good understanding of modern IT technology, information systems, and information technology

The position is civilian and is located at the Headquarters in Stockholm.
Start date: By agreement
Employment type: Permanent full-time employment, starting with a 6-month probationary period for applicants who are not currently employed by the Armed Forces.
