Security Clearance Officer

The position is located at the Security Department of the Headquarters Staff in Stockholm. The department is responsible for internal security at the Swedish Armed Forces' largest organizational unit, the Headquarters, and also for personal security for the highest leaders of the Armed Forces. The department also coordinates security protection within the Stockholm Garrison. The Headquarters is undergoing reorganization, which also applies to the Security Department, which is in an expansive period where both tasks and a new work team are being developed. Main Responsibilities

The Security Department is organized into four sections and the position is placed at the Personnel Security Section.

In the role of Security Clearance Officer, you will conduct security clearances at the Headquarters. This means that you have overall responsibility for your security clearance cases as well as the associated administration. The role involves independent work with a large variety of tasks. The tasks include, among others:

• Conducting preliminary investigations, administering background checks, and follow-up security clearances
• Supporting the organization with methodological support within the framework of personnel security
• Conducting training in the area, both internally within the Headquarters and externally with suppliers, as well as participating in security protection checks
• Developing methods and writing internal regulations in the area

The tasks may change over time as the organization develops. You will have close collaboration with the Security Chief at the Headquarters, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, the Defense Staff, and Operations Management.

Qualifications

• Current and relevant experience in the field of security clearance
• Current and relevant education in the field of security clearance
• Approved secondary education
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish
• Good knowledge of MS Office

Meritorious

• Current and relevant experience in all parts of the preliminary investigation
• Current education and experience regarding background check routines
• Experience in security clearance work within the Armed Forces
• Experience in conducting training initiatives
• Documented experience of working in IS Undsäk
• Service in the military security service and thus good knowledge of the Armed Forces' organization and its regulations for security service or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer

Other

Employment form: Permanent full-time employment starting with a 6-month probationary period for applicants who are not currently employed within the Armed Forces.

Civil/Military employment: The position is open to both officers, specialist officers, and civilians.

At the Headquarters, there is the Supreme Commander and the Director General. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, Operations Management, Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters' Staff Department and independent supervisory units.

Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. A security clearance with background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment also includes an obligation to be assigned to military service. The implications of this vary depending on the type of position.
