The Education Administration in the City of Stockholm is Sweden's largest administration with approximately 16,000 employees.

The administration is responsible for the operation and development of the municipality's more than 140 primary schools and around 30 secondary schools.

The mission of the Secondary School Department is to realize the goals and visions of the Education Board. Within the department is Skolslussen, where we work with study and career guidance as well as projects related to Skolslussen.

Your role

As a study and career counselor at Skolslussen, you will be part of the guidance group. You will guide, inform, and support young people aged 16-20 who, for various reasons, are without a place in secondary school. In your role, you will complement and develop existing efforts in regular operations within the Education Administration, social services, and labor market administration with the goal of helping more young people complete their studies. You will participate in networks with secondary schools and collaborate with social services and labor market administration efforts. The work involves internal collaboration as well as with the Secondary School Admission in Greater Stockholm, other units within the administration, and other professionals in the field.

You will contribute to the overall development and goal fulfillment of the organization. This may involve participating in method development projects, responding to the School Inspectorate, quality reviews, and producing routine documents and task descriptions.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• a degree in study and career guidance
• experience working as a study and career counselor
• good grounding in the Education Act, regulations, and general advice
• extensive knowledge and experience working with young people in need of special support
• strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing
• good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• experience collaborating with labor market administration and KAA (municipal activity responsibility)
• experience working in Indra and BER (Child and Student Register of the City of Stockholm)
• good knowledge of working in a politically governed organization, preferably related to education within the City of Stockholm
• experience in case management/exercising authority within the education sector and municipal operations.

To succeed in your role with us, you need to have good structure and be able to engage with your tasks. You have excellent collaboration skills and can meet others in a professional and calm manner even in stressful situations. You have good communication skills and can convey information pedagogically in your collaboration with both internal and external contacts.

You see the whole picture, take into account the larger perspective, and ensure the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions. Furthermore, you easily adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes.
