In August 2023, Vega school opened – a unique project for Haninge municipality where the culture and leisure administration and the education administration work closely together in these premises to create opportunities for broader learning.

Vega school is located in Vegastaden; a newly built area just south of Stockholm with a commuter train station right next to the school. The building itself is one of the hottest and most monitored construction projects in Stockholm, and in addition to facilities for school, preschool, and preschool class to grade 9, it also has a full-size sports hall, public library, youth center, culture school, orchestra hall, and a café. The school's premises are spacious, modernly furnished, and contain everything required for high-quality teaching. When fully built, the school accommodates approximately 750 students in grades F-9, after-school care, and a special needs school. During the day, our premises are used by the school. After school hours, cultural schools, associations, private individuals, and other actors operate in the premises. Therefore, the culture and leisure administration and the education administration staff will closely collaborate in these premises to create opportunities for broader learning.

Parts of the middle school premises are also prepared for overnight stays during camps and tournaments.

As the newest and one of the most modern schools in the municipality, both research and proven experience will permeate the educational environment. To create a cohesive thread in the education system, the school will also benefit from and be inspired by the preschool's work, which is Reggio Emilia inspired.

Your mission

We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment to students' learning, safety, and future, and who provides high-quality teaching. You enjoy, have experience, and are qualified to teach textile crafts for grades 4-9. Teaching students in crafts at the special needs school is also included in the position.

We are looking for someone who is a clear leader and confident in their teaching role. You are a creative, flexible, and engaged teacher who wants to develop teaching and works to ensure that each student reaches their full potential in their knowledge and personal development. You are committed to creating a safe learning environment based on mutual respect, and you understand the importance of teaching being creative and stimulating, while also being grounded in research and proven methods. You are unpretentious and curious and share your knowledge with others.

Your mission includes planning, implementing, evaluating, and being responsible for the pedagogical work based on the school's governing documents and the needs and interests of the students; both individually and together with your colleagues.

Collaboration with colleagues is a key factor and a natural part where collegial learning is fundamental. At Vega school, we value the ability to create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.

Since the culture and leisure administration has parts of its operations in the same building, we see it as natural that you have an interest and a willingness to collaborate with other actors and view the student's goal fulfillment from a holistic perspective, where all parts contribute.

You are part of team 8, which means you will also be a mentor together with a colleague in one of our eighth grades. You will also be part of a team with teachers from a F-9 perspective, where you are part of the collegial work on the development of the pedagogical activities at the school.

All of the school's educators are well aware of the importance of having an F-9 perspective, which we also expect from you. Another part of the cohesive thread is our common structure inside and outside the classroom.

What we are looking for in you

You are a licensed teacher with qualifications to teach textile crafts. It is an advantage if you have experience with language-developing methods and various NPF diagnoses.

You should be aware that the school is quite new, which means that there are high demands for flexibility and a willingness to perform other tasks during the startup phase.
