The position and job responsibilities
We are looking for a temporary social worker for the Adult Reception with a focus on financial assistance.
Here you will meet citizens aged 18 and older who are in a financially vulnerable situation and need support to move towards self-sufficiency. In this role, you will make early assessments, provide community guidance, and ensure that citizens receive the right support from the start. You will work in a generalist role where you encounter a wide range of questions and needs, often during shorter case periods before the case is closed or referred further.
The temporary position lasts until August 31, 2026.
Your main job responsibilities are:
- investigating the right to financial assistance and making decisions according to the Social Services Act
- conducting municipal affiliation investigations
- handling urgent applications for financial assistance and placements
- providing individually tailored advice and support that motivates change
- collaborating with other units within social services and external actors such as the Employment Agency, the Social Insurance Agency, healthcare, and other authorities.
At the Adult Reception, cases are handled over a limited period, focusing on early and preventive measures. We are an important first contact point in the individual's support process and work closely with other community actors to ensure the right support at the right time.
The unit has a broad mandate. In addition to exercising authority, we actively work with early and preventive measures. With the transition to a new Social Services Act, we have even better opportunities to work proactively and preventively, in close collaboration with other community actors. Through our information efforts in the local community, we contribute to making social services' support visible and catching citizens in need of help early.
We offer you
At the Adult Reception, you will meet an engaged and supportive workgroup with high competence and a strong focus on collaboration. We are social workers, administrators, senior social workers, and two unit managers who together drive the work forward. The unit is divided into two groups, one focusing on financial assistance and the other on addiction, mental health, and crime. We collaborate closely as many cases involve multiple areas, creating a learning environment where we share experiences and support each other in daily work.
As a newcomer, you will receive a secure start through a structured introduction and a mentor who will follow you during your initial time. We offer supervision and continuous professional development, including through the investment in generalizability, which allows you to broaden your skills and work within both areas of the unit. You will have influence in the development work, have the opportunity to work partially remotely, and enjoy a work environment where engagement and respect are the foundation for both well-being and quality.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or an academic degree in behavioral sciences that includes courses in social law.
We consider it meritorious if you have:
- Experience in case management according to the Social Services Act and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.
- Experience in social work.
- Experience in reception work or work at the investigation unit within financial assistance.
- Experience working according to the Care of Abusers Act in certain cases and the Act on Special Provisions for the Care of Young People.
- Experience applying the Health and Medical Services Act and the Act on Reception of Asylum Seekers in authority exercises.
- Experience collaborating with the Employment Agency and the Social Insurance Agency.
- Experience working with operational systems and other digital tools.
As a collaborative-oriented individual, you use your ability to work closely with both colleagues and external actors. This is crucial for coordinating efforts together with, for example, the Employment Agency, the Social Insurance Agency, and healthcare, where collaboration is often a prerequisite for the individual to receive the right support. Your structured work style allows you to keep track of multiple parallel cases. This ensures that applications and urgent assessments are handled correctly and on time, even in situations that require quick decisions.
As an analytical person, you are able to synthesize information from various sources, identify risks and needs, and make well-founded decisions. This is central when you investigate the right to financial assistance and make decisions that directly affect the individual's daily life. Your stability allows you to remain calm and act professionally when meeting people in vulnerable situations. This creates security for both the citizen and the collaborating partners when cases are urgent or emotionally demanding.
For positions in the Social Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
