About Us
Eksjö District Court is an open and development-oriented workplace with engaged employees. We currently have around 25 employees, and the court consists of a case unit and an administrative unit. The workplace is characterized by close cooperation among employees.
We handle approximately 2,500 cases and matters per year. There are over 45 lay judges associated with the court. The jurisdiction of the district court includes the municipalities of Eksjö, Vetlanda, Nässjö, Sävsjö, Aneby, and Tranås.
Together with other courts in the country, the district court forms the foundation of the legal system and is a cornerstone of the democratic society.
Main Responsibilities
As a summer clerk, you will participate in the daily work and gain insight into the various tasks that occur at the district court. The tasks largely correspond to those performed by newly hired clerks at the court. You will see how practical court work is conducted. The work as a summer clerk includes participating in the preparation of cases and matters, taking minutes during hearings, drafting proposals for judgments and decisions, and conducting legal research. Other tasks that occur at the court may also be included in the position.
The overall goal of the summer clerkship is to provide the clerk with insight into the daily court work and the various cases and matters that occur at a district court. This primarily happens by giving you the opportunity to participate in practical work, which may also include tasks at the court's office.
Eksjö District Court is now seeking a summer clerk for the period from June 22 to August 9, 2026, with a possible extension for another week.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone studying in the law program who will be approved at least through the sixth semester of the law program by the summer. You should have completed procedural law as well as criminal and civil law in your legal education, but you should not have completed your education before the summer.
You have good grades from completed parts of the law program as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. You convey information clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing. Other important qualities are attention to detail, analytical ability, and excellent collaboration skills.
Interviews are often not conducted for this short-term position, and great importance will be placed on your personal letter and how you motivate your interest in working as a summer clerk at our court. However, interviews may potentially be relevant.
To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means that you uphold democratic values and the state values that underpin the operations of the courts. We require that you comply with applicable laws.
