The Urban Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn more about urban development, especially the method of place development?

Since 2012, place development has been ongoing in Frihamnen through the method of place development, which has been the basis for the development of Jubileumsparken. The method involves testing different functions together with the public by developing, activating, and evaluating prototypes. The aim is to contribute to more inclusive urban development processes, sustainable transformation, and strengthened place relationships. We now have a project position to offer within place development in Södra Älvstaden, which extends from 2026-02-01 to 2026-12-31.

The southern riverbank is facing extensive urban development, and within the framework of the creative zone, a place development process is planned. To prepare for this place development process, a mapping including place and relationship analysis will be conducted in project form during 2026.

As project support, you will work strategically with the area, including producing mapping and knowledge materials. The role is characterized by collaboration and a dynamic environment where it is important to adapt to new conditions.

Your work will also include:

Supporting process leaders for early place development within the project
Analyzing and mapping needs and conditions for early place development within Södra Älvstranden
Producing mapping materials and other documentation for continued work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

Master's degree in architecture
Good knowledge of AutoCAD and the Adobe suite
Digital portfolio (attached to application)

Previous experience in cultural activities, place development, and project leadership is an advantage.

You should be driven, flexible, and creative to succeed in this role. It is also important that you are meticulous and collaborative.

We are currently renovating our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20, where all urban development administrations will gather. The new premises are expected to be ready in 2026 – until then, we are located at Åvägen in Gårda.
