Are you ready to shape the future of energy infrastructure and support the green transition? NKT is seeking a Design Engineer to join our growing global R&D department in Alingsås. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of high-voltage cable accessories that enable renewable energy transmission across the globe. You’ll be part of a collaborative technology community with deep knowledge in materials, design, simulation, and testing—working together to create innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

Design and develop cable accessories for green energy
As a Design Engineer at NKT, you will be responsible for developing advanced accessories for high-voltage AC and DC cable systems. You’ll collaborate with engineers, specialists, and test facilities across our global network to ensure technical solutions meet evolving customer and environmental needs. Your work will directly support the transformation of energy systems toward sustainability.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing cable accessories for high-voltage systems
- Creating concepts using 3D CAD tools
- Conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Planning and evaluating simulations and verification tests
- Producing final designs and technical drawings
You will be based in Alingsås and report to Sridhar Alapati, Manager R&D Accessories. Occasional travel (5–10 days/year) to domestic and international sites is expected.

You also have:
- A university degree (MSc or BSc) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Up to 3 years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools and PLM systems
- Effective communication skills in English
- An engaged attitude towards personal development
- Experience with simulation software such as Matlab
