Hultafors is now investing in a completely new production for measuring tapes. With more modern technology, digitized processes, and increased capacity, new opportunities are created to develop both products and production. At the same time, the product development for measuring tapes is consolidated at Hultafors, creating a unique need for dedicated technical leadership.
As a Technical Product Leader – Measuring Tapes, you will play a key role in driving the development of one of Hultafors' most strategic product categories. Here, you will combine technology, innovation, product development, and industrialization – while being close to users, production, and suppliers.
About the Role
You will be the technical leader for the entire measuring tape range and responsible for driving the technical roadmap in close collaboration with product management, development teams, designers, production units, and suppliers. This is a cross-functional role where you lead technical initiatives, shape future product solutions, and ensure they can be industrialized effectively.
This is not a pure design role but a strategic and technically broad role where you translate needs into technical solutions, lead projects, and ensure that Hultafors measuring tapes remain market leaders.
You will, among other things:
- Own and drive the technical roadmap for measuring tapes
- Drive product development projects from idea → concept → testing → industrialization
- Conduct user studies and translate feedback into technical requirements and solutions
- Create simpler CAD documentation for concepts and brief designers
- Ensure technical product data – such as: CAD documentation, drawings, and specifications are correct and structured in the PDM system
- Ensure quality through test plans, verification, and functional testing
- Evaluate production capabilities and collaborate with factories and suppliers
- Lead cross-functional forums within R&D, production, and technology
- Seek and implement new technologies and materials for future product generations
- Drive the industrialization of new measuring tape solutions

Organization
You will report to Patrik Tholinsson, R&D & Engineering Manager, and work closely with product development, production technology, automation, quality, and product management. Location: Hultafors
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a technical education at the university, college, or vocational level in areas such as product development, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, design engineering, or a similar field. Equivalent competence can also come from practical experience, specialized courses, or previous roles with clear technical content.
Experience
5–10 years of experience in:
- Product development
- Mechanical design or technical concept work
- Driving ideas from concept to implemented solution
- Project management or technical coordination
- Production technology/industrialization (preferable)
Technical Competence
- CAD 3D/2D (ability to create simpler models, understand and assess technical solutions, advanced CAD is preferable)
- Reading drawings and system diagrams
- PDM administration
- Product and prototype testing
- Production technology and materials science
- Basic understanding of intellectual property rights in product development (e.g., patents and design protection)
- Basic knowledge of CE, machine safety, and risk assessment (preferable)
IT & Systems
- SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
- OneDrive and Teams
- Omnia and SharePoint (preferable)
Language & Other
- Swedish and English, spoken and written
- Driving license B required. (Pool car available for visits to suppliers, partners, and production units)
Travel
The role includes both day trips and longer trips with overnight stays, approximately 2–4 days per month. This includes visits to Hultafors Group's factories, subsidiaries, new and existing suppliers, and product users.
