Responsibilities

As a GIS developer, your tasks will include developing and creating smart solutions for the municipality's needs by storing, processing, analyzing, presenting, and visualizing geographic information. You support our clients by processing/managing geodata that can be used in various types of decision-making processes. You will work across the municipality with everything from integrations, technical development, and APIs to AI, 3D, advanced database management, and automated processes.

We work with QGIS, ArcGIS, FME, Origo, ArcSDE, PostGIS, and Geoserver, which means that the position can be adapted to you – based on your personality, skills, and experiences.

Your role includes:

• Support and assistance regarding geodata
• Actively work with database management, digital hygiene, and future-proofing the systems
• Develop and optimize automated processes
• Management of the municipality's GIS platform
• Development of the digital twin concept
• Stay updated on developments in the IT/GIS field - create technical conditions for data-driven processes and sustainable digital solutions

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in GIS, or another university education that the employer deems equivalent. You preferably have a couple of years of work experience in GIS and geodata.

It is advantageous if you have knowledge in one or more of the following: FME, system development/programming, or database management.

As a person, you are a problem solver, an initiator, and are willing to test new solutions and ideas. You enjoy working in a team but are self-driven and manage your assignments in a structured and efficient manner. You are service-oriented in your interactions with both clients and colleagues. You have a strong commitment but above all, a desire to continuously contribute to improvement and drive development. Therefore, great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.

About Karlstad Municipality
