Vattenfall Hydropower is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and approximately 300 dams in the Nordic region. We have about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with our headquarters in Luleå. The renewable electricity production from hydropower is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society, where we play an important role as enablers for the sustainable energy systems of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. We are looking for a Health and Safety Engineer with experience in construction site safety coordination.

About the Job

In this role, you will be a key person to ensure that health and safety work is integrated into our culture and leadership. You will work both strategically and operationally to develop and improve our management system according to ISO 45001.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Independently coach and support managers, team leaders, project managers, and safety representatives with tasks in systematic health and safety work according to the ISO 45001 standard.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and risk assessments and provide support in these processes.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits.
  • Develop our systematic health and safety work both strategically and operationally and be an expert support in the improvement work.
  • Establish and manage governing documents within health and safety.
  • Act as project manager for relevant health and safety projects and conduct environmental monitoring.
  • Be responsible for legal monitoring and compliance with health and safety legislation.

Requirements

We expect you to have:

  • A degree or equivalent relevant education with a focus on health and safety.
  • Several years of work experience as a Health and Safety Engineer, preferably with a strategic and operational focus.
  • A good understanding of laws and regulations related to health and safety.

Meritorious:

  • Several years of experience working with management systems ISO 45001.
  • Experience in driving improvement and development work.
  • Experience in construction site safety coordination and electrical safety.

We are looking for a structured and communicative person with a strong commitment to health and safety issues. You have the ability to inspire others in health and safety work and drive these issues independently and purposefully. You are development-oriented with the insight that everything we do should lead to safe and secure facilities and workplaces. You have good experience working in the Office suite, and your ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English is well documented.

The position includes travel, which requires you to have a valid B driver's license.
