About the Position

In Örebro, there is Sweden's only national gymnasium for students with varying degrees of hearing impairment and general language disorders. During their studies, students are offered accommodation where they can grow, learn, and develop during an important time in their lives. The residence's task is to create security in the student's living and leisure situation, which includes supervision, support, follow-up, as well as conversations and activities that develop community within the student group.

As a part-time substitute support staff, you will be responsible for working with the students in the residence. The workgroup you belong to consists of 3 teams with which you will closely collaborate. You will be offered varied working days focusing on everything from developing and strengthening the social relationships of the students. Your working method is based on the young people's conditions and individual needs for support. Our working hours are primarily during evenings, nights, and weekends when our students are in residence.

• support students and promote security, study peace, and students' social development
• keep the living environment clean and fresh through cleaning
• take responsibility for leisure activities

About the Workplace

Sweden's only national gymnasium for students with deafness and hearing impairment. At Riksgymnasiet, students with general language disorders and combined visual and hearing impairments also study. There is also an adapted school for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Riksgymnasiet for the deaf and hard of hearing offers several national programs and all introductory programs. The education is conducted at three of Örebro municipality's high schools – Rudbecksgymnasiet, Tullängsgymnasiet, and Virginska gymnasiet. Riksgymnasiet also has residential and leisure activities.

Qualifications

To fit in the role, you are secure, calm, and professional in your interactions and collaboration with others. As a person, you are positive, structured, and solution-focused, and have a natural ability to prioritize your work. It is important that you are outgoing and socially active in the workplace to create contact and build relationships with the students over time. You should also be able to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written, with youth and guardians who do not master sign language.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• completed child and leisure program or other education deemed equivalent by the employer

Meritorious:

• experience working with students/youth with special needs
• basic IT skills
• knowledge of sign language
