Field of Infectious Diseases

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

In the infectious diseases department, adult patients with severe infections, communicable diseases, tropical medicine diseases, and immunodeficiency diseases are treated. Infectious diseases have an interesting aspect as we can follow the development through human history and its global connection, allowing us to meet patients of different ages and life stages. We are an emergency care department where all patients come in through the emergency room or the infectious diseases clinic. Infectious disease care often involves solving puzzles in teams from a person-centered perspective.

Infectious Diseases Ward 65B

During the peak season for communicable respiratory diseases, we need to strengthen the hospital's capacity to care for patients with infectious diseases and have for many years opened a temporary ward during a few winter months to handle the increased patient flow. Here, you are an important part of strengthening the hospital and ensuring safe and secure care. This year, we plan for 14 care places primarily for acute infectious patients during the period 2025-11-17 - 2026-04-05. The ward is staffed by nurses from staffing agencies, specially recruited nursing assistants, and experienced infectious disease physicians.

Your Mission

As a nursing assistant, you are responsible for basic care for seven patients together with a nursing assistant colleague and a nurse. Our patients have varying care needs that create a fluctuating work pace with occasional rapid changes in patients' conditions, thus requiring you to be able to work independently and in a structured manner, with a good ability to constantly prioritize and reprioritize your work as a nursing assistant. The infectious diseases ward is in constant development, and we want you as an employee to actively participate in the development work of the operations so that severely ill patients can be cared for under good conditions in a ward where the staff's working environment is a priority.

Your Qualifications

You are a trained nursing assistant, and previous experience in emergency care is an advantage. You focus on the patient and are responsible and motivated in your work. If you are curious, proactive, and cooperative, then this job is perfect for you!

We Offer

We offer a special fixed-term employment during the period January 2026 - March 2026. Ongoing start with introduction in the regular infectious ward and thereafter service in Infectious Diseases Ward 65B. A probationary period may be applied. Start date according to agreement. Working hours involve rotation day/evening/night and weekend work. Recruitment is ongoing.

With us, you will receive a well-structured introduction consisting of both clinical and theoretical sessions tailored individually together with our educational nurses and manager.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
