Environmental Inspector with a focus on environmentally hazardous activities and agriculture

The Environmental Unit in Mariestad Municipality is part of the Community Building Administration. We consist of eleven environmental inspectors and one alcohol and tobacco officer.

We now need to recruit an environmental inspector focused on environmentally hazardous activities and agriculture.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome an experienced environmental inspector to our group!

You will work with supervision of environmentally hazardous activities and agriculture. There is some opportunity to tailor the content of the position based on your previous experience or preferences. The work involves both time in the field for inspections as well as office work. You will conduct planned inspections, investigate complaints, handle notifications, and respond to referrals. You will keep yourself informed and updated on applicable case law within your area of responsibility.

Here you will work together with our inspectors, under the guidance of an environmental manager, focusing on quality and development. We operate in the municipalities of Mariestad, Töreboda, and Gullspång. Your workplace is based in the city hall in central Mariestad, just a few minutes' walk from the travel center.

The position is a permanent full-time position with immediate start according to agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are primarily looking for someone who has worked with supervision of environmentally hazardous activities and agriculture and enjoys that role. Otherwise, you have several years of experience in similar tasks or have otherwise acquired good knowledge in the area we are looking for. You have an academic education in environmental and health protection or other education we assess as equivalent. You have good knowledge of environmental legislation, legal processes, and public administration.

It is advantageous if you have experience and interest in system administration and database management.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.

It is important that you have a good ability to independently plan and prioritize your time. You should be engaged in our issues, believe in our mission, and that it contributes to a sustainable society. Being able to meet our operators with respect and open dialogue while being clear about the requirements is very valuable.
