Your tasks

We are now expanding our infrastructure team and reinforcing it with an additional traffic planner within traffic simulation. As a traffic planner, you will be offered a developing and varied job where you, together with your colleagues, work to implement the municipality's overall plans and strategies regarding traffic. Here, you will have a great opportunity to influence the long-term planning of infrastructure measures within Linköping Municipality and participate in various stages of both smaller projects and large urban development projects, such as the East Link.

In this position, you will have a particular focus on traffic simulation primarily at the macro level, as well as working with traffic analysis. This means a varied job where you will work with traffic simulations, development work within the traffic area, and participate with your traffic expertise in infrastructure projects and detailed plans.

The main tasks include:

• Conduct simulations in the municipality's traffic simulation models and perform regular updates of the models.
• Work with traffic analyses based on simulation results and produce reports.
• In 2026, we will develop a completely new city model in PTV Visum. You will play an important role in this work and lead the development of the model.
• Prepare materials for orders of traffic simulations carried out by consultants.
• Participate with traffic expertise in infrastructure projects and in the work with detailed plans.
• Participate in operational planning where the unit defines the projects to be implemented based on committee goals and strategic plans.
• Contribute to networks within relevant work areas.

Your workplace

The Urban Environment Department maintains and develops attractive, functional, and accessible public spaces, such as squares, parks, and streets, in Linköping Municipality.

At the Urban Environment Department, you belong to the Urban Environment Development unit, which works with the development and planning of municipal public spaces. The unit includes traffic planners, landscape architects, and municipal ecologists. The unit is the client for investment projects, which are carried out by the administration's project organization.

As a traffic planner, you belong to the Infrastructure group, which, with this expansion, consists of 8 traffic planners. The group works to create a functional, accessible, and safe physical traffic environment in connection with the planning and construction of the municipality's pedestrian and bicycle paths, streets, and roads. Our workgroup is characterized by community and drive. Here you will have a good opportunity for development, education, and participation in interesting projects.

The administration is located in a newly built, activity-based office in Ebbepark and offers a pleasant and safe working day with the possibility to work remotely 1-2 days a week.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with a university degree in “communication, transport, and society,” civil engineering in road and water construction, or urban planning, or another relevant academic education. We also see that you have at least 2 years of experience working with traffic simulation at the macro level. It is an advantage if you have many years of experience in traffic simulation, where you have gained a good understanding of the complexity and function of the traffic system in urban planning through your experiences.

A B driver's license is required due to the need for site visits by car within the municipality. During the course of your work, you will produce and interpret written materials that may be complex, so you need to have a good command of the Swedish language.

We are looking for someone with good analytical skills, who can both delve into details and simultaneously understand the whole to solve complex tasks. You prioritize and structure your work effectively, take responsibility for your tasks, and drive your processes forward towards set goals. Your priorities, planning, and actions are guided by your ability to think goal- and result-oriented. Furthermore, you enjoy working with others and are responsive to your team and other stakeholders you encounter in your work.
