Workplace Description

The main task of the IT department is to provide IT services to the entire Police Authority and is an important part of crime prevention and law enforcement efforts. IT is one of the most important tools for streamlining the police and improving the quality of police work. The authority therefore invests heavily in strengthening the department with new specialist competence and the latest technology for the benefit of citizens and employees in the police operations.

Operations and infrastructure are responsible for the management, development projects, and lifecycle management of the police's IT infrastructure in the areas of data and telephony. Operations and infrastructure are also responsible for coordinating the deployment of the Police Authority's IT systems, release management, as well as being responsible for preparedness and continuity planning, IT incidents, IT problems, and changes. Operations and infrastructure are also responsible for information and IT security, signal protection, and for investigations when system and security monitoring has detected security incidents or security deficiencies. Operations and infrastructure should also support development and management, be responsible for conducting security tests, audits, and follow-ups of IT security.

The position falls under the section responsible for maintaining, supplying, and developing standard platforms regarding client solutions and telecommunications as well as IT support to specialist functions such as intervention units, covert coercive measures, bomb protection, police aviation, dog operations, the Police Cavalry, the maritime police, etc.

Job Description

Our team develops and maintains systems used to detect and prevent serious crimes. As a system administrator with us, you will both maintain existing technical solutions and be involved in developing new solutions.

You will be responsible for ensuring operations, which includes system maintenance and configuration, such as installation and troubleshooting of hardware and software, and evaluation of new technology. We work closely with the operational police activities where you in your role help to understand the needs and challenges of the police and translate these into technical solutions.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in IT or equivalent experience deemed comparable by the Police Authority
  • Several years of relevant work experience in operations and/or system administration of Linux-based systems
  • Relevant work experience in troubleshooting in complex environments with high availability requirements
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing
  • Good ability to express yourself in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Swedish citizenship

It is an advantage if you also have knowledge of and/or have worked with:

  • Container technology, such as Docker, OpenShift, or Kubernetes
  • Development tools, such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, or Nexus
  • Access and permission control of Linux servers
  • Networks, firewalls, and switches
  • Database administration
  • Administration of Active Directory
  • Python or other programming languages/scripting
  • Security monitoring
  • Backup systems and/or storage systems
  • PostgreSQL or similar and integration between different communication protocols
  • APIs and systems

Personal Characteristics

As a system administrator, you will be involved in various types of assignments of different natures, we therefore value that you are adaptable and can shift focus when the work requires it.
