Spontaneous Application: Animal Technician in Gothenburg

Are you a trained animal technician interested in working with animals in a research environment? We welcome spontaneous applications for future assignments with our clients.

In the role of animal technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of the animals. You are responsible for ensuring that the animals are treated ethically and that all rules and guidelines are followed. By working with our clients, who conduct research in pharmaceuticals with a wide range of animals and projects, you will have the opportunity to contribute to important scientific advancements.

The duration, scope, and exact tasks of the assignments vary depending on the client and the assignment. Since this is a spontaneous application to cover future needs, we have not set a specific assignment length, but on average, assignments last for about 6 months.

Responsibilities

Examples of tasks that may be included:

  • Care and handling of laboratory animals according to applicable ethical guidelines.
  • Document daily observations.
  • Monitor the health and well-being of the animals.
  • Control temperature, light, and humidity.
  • Assist researchers with experimental procedures and sampling.
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of cages and the facility's hygiene standards.
  • Follow and maintain legislation and guidelines regarding animal testing (e.g., according to the 3Rs principles).

Qualifications

  • Education focused on animal husbandry, animal care, biology, laboratory animal science, or equivalent
  • Good knowledge and experience of working with animals
  • Experience working with laboratory animals is a plus but not a requirement.
  • LAS (Laboratory Animal Science) certification is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Good knowledge of the animals' needs and ethical considerations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Attention to detail, sense of responsibility, and a strong interest in animal welfare.
  • Good knowledge of both English and Swedish
