About us At RISE's Department of Agriculture and Circular Technology, we work to develop agriculture in a profitable and sustainable direction through research and innovation. We gather expertise in digitalization, automation, and sustainable production. We always collaborate with other stakeholders and have testing and demo environments such as our Testbed for Digital Agriculture and our Prototype Workshop at our disposal. Here, researchers, engineers, and practitioners meet to create solutions that work in reality – from idea to implementation.

About the role As an applied researcher in digital agriculture, you will:

·       Collaborate with industry, academia, and international stakeholders to create innovative solutions

·       Develop and test digital solutions for crop production, agriculture, and machinery

·       Develop projects and collaborations at our Testbed for Digital Agriculture

·       Work with GIS-based systems for planning and analysis of crop data

·       Participate in projects involving data protocols, communication, and connectivity of machines and sensors

·       Write applications for research funding and contribute to project budgets

·       Lead or participate in project management of complex research and development projects

Examples of projects you may work on:

·       Autonomous tractors and self-driving machines

·       Sensor-based systems for precision farming

·       IoT solutions for connected vehicles and machinery

·       AI models for optimizing crop production and resource use

The position is located in Uppsala, where our digital testbed is situated.

Who are you? We are looking for a driven and curious person who is structured and enjoys working in interdisciplinary teams. You have good collaboration skills, are solution-oriented, and have the ability to translate complex problems into practical and innovative solutions. Furthermore, you have strong communication skills, allowing you to contribute effectively in applications, project management, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

·       Relevant higher education, e.g., agronomist, civil engineer, or equivalent

·       Several years of experience in research or development within agriculture, digitalization, or mechanical engineering

·       Knowledge of GIS, crop production, and machine systems

·       Experience in project management and reporting

·       Interest in making a difference for agriculture

·       Proficient in Swedish and English

·       Location in Uppsala, where our digital testbed is situated

Meritorious

·       Relevant doctoral education

·       Experience in writing research applications

·       Knowledge of communication protocols, IoT solutions, and AI

·       Established network within the industry.

·       Practical farming experience

·       Experience in business development, communication, and social media
