Your role

School is a crucial protective factor for placed children and young people. As a school coordinator, you will focus on their schooling before, during, and after placement.

You will work closely with the child or young person, guardians, school, and responsible social worker. In this role, you will gain an overview and knowledge of schools and functioning schooling in connection with the city's own as well as contracted placement options. The role involves exercising authority related to school issues and a clear child perspective.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

  • Responsibility for and operational support to the child's social worker regarding schooling and conditions for schooling.
  • Participation in the development of care and implementation plans.
  • Ensuring that the planning agreed upon by the parties regarding the child or young person's schooling is implemented.
  • Documentation regarding school issues directly in the child's or young person's file.
  • Preparations for school transfers according to the city's routines (SAMS), which includes ensuring that there is documentation regarding the child's schooling and that the new school receives the information available.
  • Gathering the child’s/young person’s, guardians’, and contractors’ experiences of what has worked or not worked regarding schooling and ensuring that this information is communicated to those involved.
  • Preparations for transition to a new unit and new social worker in case of long-term placement.
  • Continuously monitoring the child's schooling and focusing on school attendance and school results in considerations and reassessments.
  • In connection with home relocation, the school coordinator works to ensure that schooling is planned, initiated, and that the child/young person and their guardian receive the support needed to maintain a functioning schooling. If necessary, initiate interventions within open care to stabilize schooling.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Degree in Social Work
  • Experience in exercising authority within children and young people.

Experience from schools, placements within social services, or work in HVB, support housing, or work with emergency homes is an advantage.

You are self-driven, collaborative, and want to develop working methods that strengthen children's schooling. You thrive in a changing everyday life and are driven by contributing to security and hope for children and young people.

During the recruitment process, great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
