Workplace Description

The Police Authority's finance department is tasked with designing and managing the authority's strategic governance and follow-up, which establishes what the authority should achieve in terms of results and effects. The department allocates financial resources to ensure that the operations can reach the decided direction and follows up to ensure that the funds are used efficiently and sustainably.

We also ensure a range of other conditions for the police to achieve their goals, e.g., by meeting the operational needs for suitable premises as well as materials and equipment. We provide appropriate services in the areas of cleaning, vehicle service, and the operation of police training at educational institutions to contribute to a good working environment. We also coordinate the Police Authority's sustainability work and are responsible for the authority's national vehicle supply and internal traffic safety work.

The unit for controlling and accounting is part of the Police Authority's finance department. The unit is responsible for financial governance from the national level to the regional level via the authority's financial managers located in each police region and national department. In addition, the unit is responsible for ensuring that the authority manages state funds well through effective and appropriate processes for budget allocation, follow-up, forecasts, and benefit analyses at all levels. The unit is also responsible for ensuring that the authority has accurate and fair financial reporting.

Job Description

The role of financial controller for the local supply unit is a broad and exciting role that means you will work closely with representatives of the local supply unit such as budget managers, project leaders, and administrators.

The work is performed with a high degree of independence and involves being an important partner in strategic issues and decisions, budgeting, follow-up, analysis, and forecasting. You will hold budget and follow-up dialogues and analyze and report to representatives of the local supply unit as well as the finance manager of the finance department.

Your work will also include preparing calculations and producing financial decision-making materials regarding local projects. You will also work on calculating various scenarios in connection with long-term future forecasts. Additionally, some financial administrative work and work related to the annual accounts will be included. In the finance department, we continuously work on developing our processes and deliveries where you are expected to contribute.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Relevant higher education in the field of finance or equivalent education/experience that the employer deems equivalent
  • Several years of current experience working as a financial controller or equivalent within an authority, other public sector operations, or the real estate industry that the employer deems relevant
  • Very good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Very good knowledge of Excel
  • Swedish citizenship

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Experience working as a controller with local supply and local projects that the employer deems relevant
  • Experience participating in or driving change and development work
  • Experience with larger/complex business systems and system support
  • Experience working within larger and/or complex organizations in the public sector or within the real estate industry

Personal Characteristics

To succeed in this role, you need to be analytical, strategic with the ability to identify what is most important, and you can see the whole picture. You are communicative and have a good pedagogical ability, as you will need to explain financial connections in dialogue with budget managers and project leaders. You enjoy being self-driven and taking your own initiatives within given frameworks, but you can also quickly shift focus when the situation requires it.

You act professionally and have the ability to see the assignment and your role in a larger context. You enjoy collaborating at different organizational levels. You have the will and ability to contribute to the development of the operations. You are also curious about the opportunities of digital development.
