Senior Controller (temporary position)

The Home Guard Force

The Home Guard Force is part of the Armed Forces, forming the foundation of the voluntary defense and is present throughout Sweden. The Home Guard Force consists of a combat school, four military regions with staffs, regional training groups, and home guard battalions as well as territorial units.

The Rikshemvärnsstaben is currently part of the Headquarters. The Rikshemvärnsstaben is the central staff of the Chief of the Home Guard to lead and direct the unit production of the Home Guard Force. About 60 employees are divided into three departments: the Planning Department, the Implementation Department, and the Support Department.

About the Implementation Department

The Implementation Department consists of three sections: the Implementation Section, the Volunteer Section, and the Follow-up and Analysis Section. The Follow-up and Analysis Section plays a central role as a strategic advisor in finance and carries an overall responsibility for results. The section is also responsible for the follow-up process of the Home Guard Force. The section is characterized by teamwork, good collaboration, result focus, humility, and openness.

The Position Offers

As a senior Controller, you will be part of the Follow-up and Analysis Section. The role is broad and includes planning, training, implementation, follow-up, analysis, and reporting. You will conduct financial analyses and reconciliations and assist in preparing financial decision-making materials. You will work both strategically and operationally, closely collaborating with management, other section heads, and the staff's departments.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Create materials for the department head's decision-making
  • Develop and analyze relevant key figures for operations and finance
  • Support in the preparation of order documents and referral work
  • Work on the management of rationalization/effectiveness in operations
  • Develop routine descriptions and training materials
  • Conduct internal training to increase financial knowledge among managers and employees
  • Independently drive development projects
  • Drive and work on continuous development and improvement within the framework of the Rikshemvärnsstaben's responsibilities
  • Support in other departmental tasks and represent the function when needed

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in finance or equivalent education that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Several years of relevant work experience as a senior controller or equivalent
  • Relevant work experience within a larger organization, preferably a government agency
  • Experience in giving presentations and training
  • Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience in financial management within the Armed Forces
  • Experience working at a higher staff level (Regional staff, Branch staff, or Headquarters)
  • Experience in the Armed Forces' infrastructure and material economy
