System Developer for Linux-based Systems
At FRA, we work on something that no one else does in Sweden, and you can be a part of it. Regardless of your role, we contribute to societal benefit through a meaningful purpose — together we work on unique tasks for Sweden's security and integrity.
We offer interesting tasks with good opportunities for personal development, and we are convinced that a mix of people with different backgrounds creates a dynamic and creative work environment – our differences are our strength.
Do you want to contribute to societal benefit and support Sweden's independence in the world? We are now looking for a system developer for Linux-based systems with strong knowledge in automation, who wants to work with continuous development and maintenance of large systems. At FRA, every task is part of something bigger. If you are the one we are looking for, we can offer a varied job in a knowledge-intensive environment where you can make a difference every day.
Your Mission
As a system developer for Linux-based systems, you belong to a unit within the Technical Department. The department is responsible for providing the entire authority with the technology and systems that our operations need in signal intelligence, cyber defense, and support functions. In this role, you will work with systems that have a direct impact on FRA's intelligence production.
In the role of system developer, you will work agilely with your team, where you have overall responsibility for your entire product portfolio. As part of the team, you will be responsible for building entirely new environments, as well as maintaining and automating existing products. The systems are a mix of open source, black box, and in-house developed products. You will participate in design, architectural choices, implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning/migration of these products, that is, the entire lifecycle.
In the team, we encourage creativity and innovative thinking. We have both depth and breadth in our competencies, and the collaboration in the group is strong. We also work closely with users and adjacent teams.
You Can
We are looking for someone who has:
- Post-secondary education, for example as a civil engineer/university engineer, or in another area that the employer assesses as equivalent. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent knowledge through work experience.
- Documented experience of working in a Linux environment
- Documented experience in automation
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing
As you will come into contact with the following areas in the role, we see it as meritorious if you have knowledge in one or more of them;
- Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
- Programming for system automation in Linux environments (e.g., Bash/shell script, Python, Go)
- Kubernetes, as an administrator and/or user
- Container technology (e.g., Docker, Podman)
- GitOps and working automated against repositories (e.g., ArgoCD)
- Networking and/or network protocols
- Monitoring and metrics (e.g., Grafana/Prometheus, Kibana/Elasticsearch, Nagios/Checkmk)
- Physical server hardware
- Large data flows (e.g., various message buses or Apache NiFi)
We also see it as meritorious if you have a B driver's license.
You Are
We are looking for someone with the following qualities:
- Collaboration skills – You work well with others. You relate to them in a responsive and smooth way and listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively.
- Self-driven – You take responsibility for your task, structure your approach independently, and drive your processes forward.
- Goal and result-oriented – You work towards goals and focus on results. You are guided by goal and result thinking in prioritizations, planning, and actions and change your direction when goals change.
- Problem-solving analytical ability – You work well with complex issues. You analyze and break down problems into their components and solve complicated problems.
