Healthcare Assistant at Emergency Care and Acute Care Unit

We now have the opportunity to welcome 1-2 new team members. You are offered a varied and exciting job as a healthcare assistant with us at the Emergency Care and Acute Care Unit. With us, you will gain broad competence and the opportunity for a varied and developing job.

Job Responsibilities

Our staff rotates between our units. We offer you an individually tailored introduction to help you feel secure in your work. You will start your introduction either at the Emergency Care or Acute Care Unit, and when you feel confident and can work independently, you will be guided to the next unit. Teamwork is important to us in order to provide professional care where the patient is at the center.

About the Workplace

Emergency Care

The Emergency Care is an adult medical emergency department where we receive a third of the residents of Västmanland, approximately 10,000 patients per year. At the Emergency Care, you will be part of a team that receives patients together and is their first contact. Triage is based on RETTS. As we are an Emergency Care, we accept all patients. Prioritizing, referring, and ensuring safe transport to other clinics is part of our work. We also act as an emergency response team for the hospital's various departments. Adjacent to the Emergency Care facilities is the On-call Reception, which we collaborate with during evenings and weekends, receiving about 2,000 patients per year.

We are open days and evenings, all year round, so you will have the opportunity for great variation in your working hours.

Acute Care Unit

The Acute Care Unit cares for patients with various acute conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, sepsis, and intoxications. This is a more ward-like job but with a high level of monitoring and advanced medical technology such as CPAP, OptiFlow, and bilevel. You will work in a multidisciplinary team where your role is central to the patient's well-being. The variation in tasks and pace allows you to develop both medically and in your professional judgment.

It is important to us that you feel good and enjoy your job; therefore, we offer you:

  • tailored introduction program to help you feel secure in your professional role
  • opportunity for professional development through internal training
  • a workplace for different stages of life, with flexible working hours within certain frameworks
  • free access to our fully equipped gym
  • wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a trained healthcare assistant with proof of a protected professional title.

It is an advantage if you have a few years of experience in the profession, preferably in emergency care. If you have worked with the Cosmic journal system, we also consider that an advantage for the position. Since you need to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues, good knowledge of the Swedish language is required. Other language skills are an advantage.

As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. A workday with us can change quickly, and you need to be able to adapt in challenging situations while maintaining your calm and focus. Teamwork is crucial for patient safety, which requires good collaboration skills. You work closely with patients and are empathetic and responsive in your interactions. There is much to learn here, so being curious is beneficial, and always daring to ask if you are unsure.

Employment Conditions

Permanent, full-time day/evening/night. Start date according to agreement.
