JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now expanding our operations with three competent child secretaries to our Family Home Unit, Authority. Are you a trained social worker and used to having complex conversations with the child in focus? Then you are the right person for us. Come and make Gävle meaningful.

As a child secretary, you are the responsible caseworker for a number of foster care placed children and young people. Your primary task is to follow up on the child's development during the placement together with the foster care secretary and to be responsible for all authority exercises regarding the individual child with the support of the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Special Provisions concerning the Care of Young People (LVU). This means regular follow-ups with the child as well as continuous collaboration with the child's parents, foster home, school, and other networks. We place great emphasis on the participation of children/youth in care, the children's health, schooling, and contact with their biological network.

We collaborate with the municipality's treatment units during visits between children and biological parents and during reunification. An important part of the work as a child secretary is to make the child's voice heard and to ensure that the child feels involved in community care.

The Family Home Unit - Authority is a stable work group consisting of a unit manager, two deputy unit managers, 16 child secretaries, and an administrator. We are centrally located in Gävle and have a close collaboration with the Family Home Unit - Support. As a new employee, you will receive a mentor and be offered individual introduction. The group also has external supervision and internal support for supervision as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. Since the position involves travel, it is required that you have a driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle and driving experience. Experience in follow-up work concerning foster care placed children and young people is an advantage, as is previous work with long-term contacts within child and youth care. Some investigative experience is also advantageous. If you have training in Sign and Safety as well as taping, it is desirable.

As a person, you have the ability to see what needs to be prioritized, are efficient, and use resources to achieve results in the best way possible. You have an unpretentious approach in your collaboration with others. Furthermore, you adapt to different situations and have the ability to change your perspective and approach. You see opportunities in changes.

To succeed in your role as a child secretary, you can express yourself and interact with others in both speech and writing. You need to enjoy meeting and conversing with the placed children/youth and be available as a caseworker over time. You adapt your language to different situations, purposes, and recipients and have linguistic security in both speech and writing.
