Our 1800 employees work with close care and health in Uppsala County. We offer a wide range of services within primary care. Our patients meet us at Region Uppsala's own health centers or within habilitation, and we provide advice over the phone via 1177. Education, research, and development are important to us, as we adapt our offerings based on the needs of the residents. We already offer mobile teams, video visits, and smart e-services.

We are looking for a psychologist who wants to work with us at Östhammar Health Center!

Do you enjoy variety in your work? We in primary care meet people at all stages of life, and no day is the same. The position advertised is a 100% temporary position as a psychologist for one year, starting by agreement with the possibility of extension.

Alongside your individual development plan, we have regular networking meetings with other psychologists within collective primary care and training days for professional development. You will receive training in our region-wide care process and be part of a large network with knowledgeable colleagues, as well as access to support functions and specialist psychologists. As a psychologist with us, you will receive individual or group supervision based on your own preferences.

Your Mission

As a psychologist, you will work with mental health issues and psychological aspects of health problems, contributing the psychological perspective that complements the medical and social perspectives at the health center. You will work independently with adults aged 18 and over and collaborate with other professional categories at the health center and other actors. Common problem areas that psychologists encounter include depression, anxiety issues, sleep problems, pain, and stress. We work with triage, stepwise assessment, and treatment based on a region-wide care process for mental health.

The work involves psychological assessment and diagnostics, counseling, treatment, and handling of referrals. Treatment is provided based on national knowledge management, both in groups and individually, via video and in-person. Our interventions include support for self-help, psychological counseling, as well as shorter and longer interventions based on patients' needs. As a psychologist, you will be part of our psychosocial team consisting of 1 psychologist and 2 social workers. Supervision and training assignments for other staff may occur. Collaboration takes place with other health centers in the municipality and nearby municipalities. The possibility of partially working remotely may be offered.

Your Competence

We are looking for a licensed psychologist with a CBT focus and good knowledge of diagnostics and evidence-based treatment methods. It is advantageous if you have experience working in primary care. To thrive in the job, you need to be comfortable managing large patient flows and combinations of assessments, shorter and longer interventions. You make correct assessments and priorities, weigh complex information together, and show judgment in actions and decision-making. To succeed in the job, you need to have good pedagogical skills and find it easy to establish contact with patients and understand their perspective or situation.

Furthermore, you have a good ability to collaborate, are attentive, and solve challenges in a constructive manner. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward in a structured way, as well as plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively within set time frames. You have the capacity to work independently and are quality-conscious. In addition, you see the bigger picture and take into account the broader perspective. The work requires an interest in and ability to work in a team, and you are motivated to develop the operations. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

About Us

Östhammar Health Center is located in the coastal town of Östhammar, about 70 kilometers from Uppsala. Östhammar is beautifully situated by the sea and is surrounded by a lovely archipelago. Here, care is provided within a health center that consists of a health center, emergency reception, primary care unit, and short-term unit. We have access to X-ray in the same building and the health center has a lab. The health center has about 6,550 registered patients and we are 30 employees. Here you will find child health care, medical reception, urgent care for acute conditions, diabetes, heart failure, and asthma/COPD nurses, as well as a geriatric reception. We also have a dietitian, nursing assistant, rehabilitation coordinator, physiotherapists, palliative representatives, and a pharmacist associated with us. We work closely with home care, conduct home visits, and round at a special housing facility.

At the health center, doctors with various specialties work for consultation such as general medicine, emergency care, internal medicine, palliative medicine, and pediatrics.
