Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Northern Inner City district consists of the central parts of Stockholm, Norrmalm, and Östermalm. Here we work to provide our 155,000 residents with the best services in areas such as preschool, social services, elderly care, and urban development. We welcome you who want to make a difference for the residents of the Northern Inner City.

Welcome to us

We are now looking for you who want to come and work with us! The parent advisors belong to the area of prevention and family treatment.

Our common mission is to provide early, accessible support to children, youth, and their parents in the Northern Inner City district administration. We are all engaged and competent employees working in a promoting, preventive, and therapeutic manner to create good living conditions for children and youth and their parents. We are now looking for a parent advisor who wants to be our new colleague. You will belong to a workgroup consisting of two parent advisors and two community guides who also coordinate and lead parenting support programs. The work is led by a unit manager.

We offer

We offer an exciting and varied job with experienced and knowledgeable colleagues and engaged managers. We care about our employees and would like you to take part in wellness grants, educational opportunities, and vacation exchange if the operations allow.

Your role

As a parent advisor, you provide advice and support to parents with children aged 0-18 years. The work is based on a systems theory foundation. The tasks include providing parent counseling to parents and relatives, sometimes with the children's participation. The conversations can be psychoeducational, supportive, and reflective, and also include guidance to complementary support and interventions.

You are expected to lead groups within parenting support programs and provide parent counseling at BVC/BMM. A large part of the work involves continuously visiting internal and external actors around children and families where we inform about the parent counseling. Collaboration with preschool departments and libraries is a focus area. We want to offer parents easily accessible support that will help them in their parenting in the long term. The work should strive to provide general support as early as possible in children's lives. We use the parenting support programs offered by the city.

Main responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the advice and support phone line and conduct parent counseling conversations
  • Lead groups within parenting support programs
  • Develop working methods and approaches to effectively reach the target group of parents with early support
  • Collaborate with schools, preschools, BVC, BMM, other social services, and civil society

Some evening work will be included when you lead parenting support groups.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work
  • Experience in support and treatment work with children, youth, and their families
  • Further education in family treatment

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Training in the city's parenting support programs, such as ABC, KOMET, On the Right Track, Safer Children, Parenting in Sweden.
  • Previous experience working with parenting support groups

We are looking for someone who is professional, self-driven, and flexible. As a person, you are structured and engaged, with a good ability to organize and prioritize your work effectively. We are looking for someone who is communicative and enjoys collaborating with other professionals, always with the target group in focus.

For this position, the applicant is required to submit a criminal record extract from the police. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
