Nephrology at Linköping University Hospital is seeking a specialist in nephrology who wants to work closely with patients and in a person-centered manner.

We are responsible for kidney care in central and western Östergötland. The main task of the nephrology department is to investigate and treat patients with medical kidney diseases and to treat patients with chronic kidney failure. Treatment of chronic kidney failure includes PD, hemodialysis (including 'limited care' and home-HD) as well as investigation prior to and management after kidney transplantation.

The nephrology department has a close collaboration with the medical faculty at Linköping University (LiU) regarding research and teaching of medical students and other professional categories in training. At LiU, there is a professorship in nephrology, which also includes clinical work. The clinic's research touches on several central areas within nephrology, especially utilizing technological advancements to improve dialysis care and in glomerulonephritis/vasculitis.

Job Description

The department consists of a kidney outpatient clinic, three dialysis units (two in Linköping and one in Motala), and a care ward (B173) in bright and purpose-built premises. The ward also cares for patients with rheumatological diseases who are visited by doctors from the rheumatology clinic. As a specialist doctor with us, you will be offered stimulating and varied tasks and meet patients in both outpatient and inpatient care. Work in inpatient care consists of, among other things, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with medical kidney diseases, but we also take care of medicine patients who are admitted from the emergency department. We work closely with patients and in teams on the ward. Adjacent to ward B173, there is also a day care and acute dialysis unit. Work in outpatient care consists of duties within the dialysis service and regular outpatient clinic work. We have our own on-call line in nephrology and do not participate in the hospital's medical on-call duty. In addition to clinical work, research, development work, and teaching constitute a certain part of the activity, and documented skills/interests in these areas are therefore meritorious.

Work Group

At the clinic, just over 100 employees work, all of whom have an important role and contribute to a cutting-edge clinic. Among the clinic's employees are about fifteen engaged, knowledgeable medical colleagues with a focus on development.
