Your new workplace:

The Family Counseling Service is investing and strengthening its team with an additional family counselor.

The service is part of the Children and Youth operational area within the Individual and Labor Market Administration but is organizationally independent from other operations. Here, three family counselors are responsible for family counseling for residents in Sundsvall, Timrå, Nordanstig, and Ånge, where the last three municipalities purchase the service from Sundsvall Municipality.

The mission of the Family Counseling Service is to fulfill the municipality's statutory obligation to provide family counseling, that is, conversations aimed at addressing cohabitation conflicts in relationships and families. We run a well-functioning operation where employees have high competence and extensive experience. Together, we take great responsibility for our mission, our operations, and its development.

We offer a good working environment as well as a stimulating and developing job in an experienced and committed team. You will work independently on your assignments while having access to support from the team and external supervision. As a new employee, you will also receive internal supervision from colleagues during your first year.

Your contribution as a family counselor:

As a family counselor, you will work with conversation therapy for couples, families, and individuals in crises, problems, and conflicts. Advisory conversations are also part of the role. Some outreach work is included in the position. Conversations primarily take place in the family counseling premises but can also be offered digitally. The agreement with Ånge Municipality includes family counseling in Ånge one day every other week, which means that travel is part of the job.

Your qualifications and experience:

You who are applying have a degree in social work or another academic education that the employer deems equivalent, as well as at least basic psychotherapy training (step 1). You also have previous work experience in therapeutic or treatment conversations. A B driver's license is a requirement.

It is advantageous if you have experience as a family counselor or other psychosocial treatment work with couples and families. Further education in psychotherapy (step 2) or in relevant areas, such as sexology, domestic violence, or couple and relationship therapy, is also meritorious.

You express yourself very well in spoken and written Swedish and preferably have some experience with digital tools.

We are looking for someone with high personal maturity, which means you are emotionally stable, have good self-awareness, and are confident in yourself. You can distinguish between the personal and the professional and behave in a manner that is appropriate to the situation.

You are self-driven and take responsibility for your work in a structured way that drives the process forward. You have good collaboration skills and work well with others in a responsive and smooth manner. You are skilled at building trust and creating good relationships.

It is essential for you to start from a child perspective in your work, and you have a positive attitude towards collaboration with other actors for the best interests of children.
