The Swedish Veterinary Institute, SVA, is an expert authority that strengthens Sweden's ability to combat animal diseases that pose threats to critical societal functions through diagnostics, research, and advice. We are now looking for a Deputy IT Manager who wants to lead our teams for IT operations and support. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop both the business and employees in an important function for the authority's digital infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

As Deputy IT Manager, you will lead the daily work within IT operations and IT support with personnel responsibility for seven employees. You will work closely with the IT Manager to develop the business and ensure stable service delivery. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Personnel management and team development
    • Direct supervisor for seven employees distributed across IT operations and IT support
    • Lead, coach, and develop employees while ensuring a good work environment
    • Promote competence and team development
  • Operational management and service delivery
    • Coordinate and distribute daily work with incident and case management
    • Ensure high availability and quality in IT services
    • Participate in operational work as needed
  • Process and improvement work
    • Develop working methods and processes (e.g., according to ITIL)
    • Drive improvement work for increased security and efficiency
    • Manage the lifecycle of systems, licenses, and equipment

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience in leading IT operations and support, either as a manager with personnel responsibility or as a team leader/service manager who now wants to take the step to a full managerial role.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary education in IT or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in operational management within IT operations and/or IT support
  • Leadership experience (as a manager, team leader, or similar) – preferably with personnel responsibility
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Basic understanding of IT security work

Meritorious

  • Previous personnel responsibility as a manager
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as CIS Controls, ISO27001, ITIL
  • Experience in project management, change management
  • Experience working with or leading IT security work within local operational environments
  • Experience in supplier follow-up
  • Experience from working in a government agency or other public sector

Conditions

The position is security classified, which means that a security review will be conducted before employment. The security review includes background checks and security interviews in accordance with the Security Protection Act. Swedish citizenship is a requirement.

The employment begins with a 6-month probationary period. Interviews may begin before the application period ends.

As Deputy Section Manager at SVA, you will have an employment as an IT technician and a three-year appointment as a manager. The appointment as a manager can then be extended annually.
