Assistant Nurse at the Oncology Clinic

The Oncology Clinic at Linköping University Hospital has an overall responsibility for cancer treatments in the southeastern healthcare region.

The operation is organized into outpatient and inpatient care, as well as a radiation therapy unit where patients with general oncology and gynecological oncology diagnoses receive treatment. The clinical trial unit is also part of the operation. At the oncology clinic's treatment reception, which is part of the clinic's outpatient care, outpatient treatment with chemotherapy and antibodies is provided. Thus, the patient is not hospitalized but can go home the same day. The unit has 29 treatment places. Nurses and nursing assistants work diagnosis-oriented together with the clinic's doctors. We also have an outpatient reception where new visits and follow-ups take place, as well as our clinical trial unit where research nurses primarily work with clinical drug trials.

Job Description

As a nursing assistant at the treatment reception, oncology clinic, you will follow the patient throughout their treatment period, both during curative and palliative treatment. You work independently and plan your day based on what is set in your schedule. You are responsible for changing PICC lines for patients receiving treatment during the day. You are also responsible for checking the voicemail regularly throughout the day and calling patients as needed. Furthermore, the tasks may include taking samples, EKGs, and more. The job also includes some administration in Cosmic as the nursing assistant keeps track of test results, bookings, etc.

Work Group

You work closely with your nursing assistant colleagues, nurses, and the clinic's diagnosis-specific doctors.

About You

You have a degree from the nursing program or an approved nursing assistant education. We prefer that you have worked as a nursing assistant for a couple of years, and previous experience in Cosmic is an advantage.

You have good collaboration skills and contribute to a good work environment through a positive attitude. You are meticulous and quality-conscious and willing to contribute to the development of the operation. You reflect on and discuss your knowledge and efforts and are open to giving and receiving feedback. As a person, you easily adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes. You have a structured way of working with the ability to plan and prioritize your work. It is important for you to provide good and safe care. You have an interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to find solutions.
