Norra Timber processes timber from the northern forests.
Norra Timber is part of Norra Skog, a member-owned organization driven by making the forest owners' lives in Norrland as valuable as possible for our 27,000 members. We care about sustainable forestry and a vibrant rural community. Our members contribute to the diversity and sustainable use of the forest, and in our industries, we optimize the use of raw materials from every harvested tree.
Our timber comes from one of the best forest districts in the world – northern Sweden. The harsh climate means that the forest grows slowly here. This results in slow-growing, fine-branched trees with dense annual rings. Therefore, pine and spruce from Norrland are considered some of the most esteemed timber raw materials. We humbly refer to it as “vintage timber.” We take great pride in stating that our northern forests are processed into climate-smart products used across large parts of the world.
Norra Timber's operations include three sawmills, three processing units, and a pole factory. We produce nearly 800,000 cubic meters of sawn timber, 250,000 cubic meters of planed timber, as well as about 60,000 turned pine poles and 150,000 chip bales annually. Approximately 60% of timber sales go to export. The association also owns 30 percent of the Husum Pulp AB pulp mill. Within the Norra Skog group, over 600 people work, and the turnover amounts to approximately 5 billion SEK.
