Since April 2023, RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen has been running the Testpoint JH project to reduce the stigma around HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STI) in the region. Within the project, a coordinator and communicator work to spread knowledge about sexual health and rights and reduce stigma around HIV and STI. The project includes an anonymous testing service and school presentations.

RFSL Jämtland Härjedalen is an association for homosexuals, bisexuals, transgender people, queer, and intersex individuals in Jämtland and Härjedalen. The association's work includes social activities, information activities in schools, sexual health initiatives, and political advocacy. RFSL is an anti-racist and feminist organization.

Job Responsibilities

The role of communicator with us includes:

• Responsible for producing content and moderating the association's social media and website
• Graphic design of physical materials such as posters, brochures, and similar
• Continuously develop communication strategies for Testpoint JH and RFSL JH
• Support the association's work with political advocacy
• Present the activities during training sessions, meetings, and other events.

You have great freedom in how you choose to organize your work, which means you need to be both creative and disciplined in your role.

You are responsible for documenting your work and reporting on the project at the end of the year together with employers and colleagues. You are also expected to be part of the effort to seek new project funding.

The position can be adjusted between 50-75% according to agreement; the most important thing for us is to find the best-suited candidate. The work is based in our office in central Östersund, and travel within the county may occur. There is also the possibility for some remote work.

Requirements

• You have relevant education in communication or equivalent work experience
• You express yourself professionally in both spoken and written Swedish and English
• You share RFSL's values and are interested in working for human rights.

Meritorious

• You have experience from non-profit organizations, community life, and/or volunteer work.
• You have experience working with political advocacy
• You have knowledge of LGBTQI issues and norm criticism
• You have personal experiences and/or good knowledge of the LGBTQI community, especially MSM (men who have sex with men)
• You have knowledge of and/or previous experience working with sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
• You have skills in Photoshop and InDesign
• You have good knowledge of Sámi language and culture and/or other cultures and languages.
• You have previously worked on projects, with project reporting and/or seeking project funding.
• Driver's license B

Employment Conditions

50-75% permanent employment, probationary period of 6 months. Start in January or as soon as possible by agreement.

The working hours are primarily during office hours. Wednesdays during the testing service's opening hours from 5 PM to 7 PM require presence at the office in Östersund. Other evening and weekend work may occur. Being present at the office in Östersund and other parts of the county is important, but there is the possibility for some remote work.
