Welcome to us! About the workplace

The Finance Unit is the municipality's central support and management function within finance, purchasing, procurement, and local planning. We are a team of 15 employees, consisting of economists, procurement specialists, and administrators who support municipal management and our four sectors within the municipality's administration. Both men and women of various ages work here. The team has a good cohesion, is easy to laugh with, and enjoys something nice with coffee.

In recent years, we have made several changes to our working methods, focusing on digitization and automation. The aim has been to reduce unnecessary administration and create more efficient and quality-assured workflows.

Your tasks

We are now expanding our team and looking for another business controller who wants to become our key person in supporting the community development sector and parts of the learning sector.

In the role of business controller, you will work both strategically and operationally to support the sector manager and managers in planning, budgeting, analyzing, and following up on their finances and operations in areas such as environment, construction, planning, culture and leisure, property, food and cleaning, as well as preschool and cultural school. The position is located in the finance unit under the finance manager, but you will have close collaboration with the sector manager, managers, and other business controllers in the unit.

Your tasks are varied and performed independently and in collaboration with others in areas including:

  • Planning and budgeting processes
  • Follow-up, year-end closing, forecasts, and analyses
  • Prepare decision-making materials within the area of responsibility
  • Ongoing accounting-related tasks
  • Contract controlling

We work in Visma Business Solutions, which is our financial system, Visma Proceedo for purchasing and invoice management, Mercur - budgeting and forecasting, and Stratsys tools for goal follow-up and reporting.

About you

We are looking for someone with a university degree in finance, public administration, or another education deemed equivalent. To succeed in the role, you should have good knowledge of accounting and financial management, as well as several years of experience in qualified financial work supporting management and managers. Experience with similar tasks in municipal operations and the areas of community development and education is an advantage.

You thrive in digital environments and have good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel and larger business systems. You are curious about how digitization and automation can streamline work and see opportunities in new solutions.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. You should enjoy a role with many contact points and want to collaborate with others, which requires good communication skills. To succeed in the role, you need to be pedagogical and have an analytical ability to see connections, both the parts and the whole, and be able to propose measures that contribute to solving complex problems. Furthermore, you need to work structured and independently, organizing and planning your work and that of the managers based on deadlines.
