Assistive Technology Center

Our 1800 employees work with close care and health in Uppsala County. We have a wide range of services within primary care. Our patients meet us at Region Uppsala's own health centers or within habilitation, and we provide advice over the phone via 1177. Education, research, and development are important to us as we adapt our services based on the needs of the residents. Already, we offer mobile teams, video visits, and smart e-services.

Are you an occupational therapist with several years of experience? Now you have the opportunity to apply for a position as an assistive technology consultant in the cognitive product area as one of our colleagues will retire. We offer a permanent full-time position with immediate start or according to agreement.

Our Operations

At the Region's Assistive Technology Center, prescribers receive help choosing and testing assistive devices for mobility and cognition for children and young people under 21 years, as well as communication aids for both children and adults. The individual's needs, based on the prescriber's assessment, determine the choice of assistive devices. We procure, stock, and refurbish assistive devices. We adapt and repair assistive devices and also provide training on how assistive devices work and can be used, to relatives and staff in, for example, healthcare and schools.

Your Assignment

As an assistive technology consultant, your tasks include trials and follow-ups together with assistive device prescribers and individual adjustments of prescribed assistive devices. An important part of the job is to support prescribers throughout the prescription process and to provide advice, support, guidance, and training to patients, relatives, and staff. Visits occur in various environments throughout Uppsala County, such as at the Assistive Technology Center, in preschools/schools, in homes, and at prescribing units.

The position also includes work with procurement, training for prescribers, study visits, product and assortment responsibility, and register maintenance in our assistive device system Medusa.

Qualifications

Applicants should be a licensed occupational therapist with several years of experience in the profession and practical knowledge of cognitive disabilities. Experience working with children and young people and good knowledge of cognitive aids are advantageous.

As an assistive technology consultant, you need to:

  • be professional in your role
  • be interested in digital solutions and monitor technological developments
  • be able to adapt to different situations and shift focus
  • have collaborative and pedagogical skills
  • be service-oriented
  • be able to independently organize, plan, and structure your work
  • be a proficient computer user with good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

A valid driver's license is required. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
