Nurse for the Kidney and Transplantation Department
REGION SKÅNESkåne län, Malmö

to apply for the job
Make a Difference. Every Day.
Are you curious about working with transplantation and kidney care? Do you want to help develop kidney and transplantation care for the future? Then you are the one we are looking for!
The department is located in the new hospital on the 9th floor with a fantastic view of Malmö. The operation has grown significantly over the past year to meet the future needs of kidney care. All patients have single rooms. Everything is new and modernized in terms of facilities, equipment, and working methods, leading to new opportunities to develop the operation. As an employee, you are part of the journey and play an important role as you have the opportunity to participate and influence the department's routines and working methods.
The Kidney and Transplantation Department is part of the area of operations (VO) for nephrology, rheumatology, and endocrinology. The department is a hybrid unit where we care for patients who are to be or have been transplanted, as well as patients within nephrology. This autumn, we have also started caring for hospitalist patients from surgery and urology. In other words, an exciting mix that gives you a broad competence.
In nephrology, we care for patients with acute illness, as well as chronic illness. Examples of diagnoses include vasculitis, nephrotic syndrome, various forms of nephritis, etc. We help patients obtain access (insertion) before starting dialysis and address issues with existing accesses. The transplantation surgery includes both planned and emergency kidney transplants. Sometimes we also care for patients before and after pancreas transplants. Another important aspect is rejection problems after transplantation that require treatment. Following a severely ill kidney patient who has been transplanted and then leaves the department with a functioning kidney again is very rewarding.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The department currently has 24 care places on weekdays and 18 on weekends, with plans to open up to 24 places by spring 2026. We work divided into teams consisting of a nurse and a nursing assistant. Each team is responsible for six to seven patients together with the responsible medical team, and you jointly plan the tasks for the shift. Support functions such as coordinators, operations, physiotherapists, pharmacists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers are also part of the staff. Patients come to us both electively and acutely, so the pace and workload can vary throughout the hours of the day.
As a new employee with us, you will receive an individual introduction based on your existing skills. If you have previous experience, we will tailor the introduction to your circumstances. If you are a recent graduate, you will be offered a seven-week introduction that includes both theory and practice in both nephrology and transplantation care.
The operation offers you a varied, stimulating, and educational workplace where you have the opportunity for personal development and training. As development is important to us, we hope you will be involved in the department's ongoing development work. Competence development occurs continuously, both internally and externally.
We work two weekends out of five and have a fixed schedule. We are looking for nurses primarily for day/evening shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are a requirement for the position. Experience working in nephrology and/or transplantation surgery is an advantage but not a requirement.
You have a humble approach towards both patients and colleagues, are positive, engaged, flexible, and want to develop in your professional role. You take personal responsibility and are a good team player. Of course, you are a good ambassador for Region Skåne's values: welcoming, driving, caring, and respect. Great emphasis is placed on collaboration skills and personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we apply ongoing selection. Welcome with your application today!
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
