Job Advertisement: Nurse for the Infection Clinic

The Infection Unit includes the infection ward as well as the infection clinic with a needle exchange clinic and day care activities. In a few years, a completely new infection building will be completed where almost everyone will be gathered under the same roof. In the unit, there are two nursing assistants, two medical secretaries, and five nurses. Two of the nurses work at the needle exchange clinic. Our infectious disease specialists rotate between the infection ward, extensive consulting activities, and our outpatient clinic.

Many diagnoses fall under the infection control law, which means both rights and obligations for the patients. We meet patients with hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV, and multi-resistant bacteria, as well as patients with immunodeficiency diseases and febrile conditions that need to be investigated. We also see patients for follow-ups after care in our inpatient ward. We also conduct day care where we administer intravenous antibiotics to patients who, apart from this treatment, no longer need inpatient care. This activity will develop as the need for it increases. We also run a vaccination clinic with travel medical advice.

The infection clinic also includes the needle exchange clinic, which acts as a low-threshold clinic to help prevent the spread of blood-borne infections.

Our specialty is affected by changes in our environment such as refugee flows and pandemics, which means we may quickly need to adapt our entire operation.

In the role of nurse, you will gradually work independently with your own clinic, vaccination clinic, and telephone advice. We have a schedule where we rotate through different positions, and outside of this, you have the opportunity to plan and organize part of your tasks.

Regarding formal requirements, you are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Previous experience in infectious disease care and clinic work is an advantage.
