Description
The adapted upper secondary school within the education administration in Gothenburg consists of 9 schools.
The adapted upper secondary school is a distinct school form with its own curricula. Here, over 400 students study in national and individual programs. The schools work based on each student's needs, development, opportunities, and conditions. We continuously strive to develop the educational activities to achieve increased goal fulfillment for the students. The students are at different developmental levels and have intellectual disabilities, sometimes with additional disabilities such as autism, mobility impairments, visual or hearing impairments.
Responsibilities
We are now looking for several competent and committed substitute teachers who can help our students thrive, develop, and achieve the educational goals. Your work will contribute to the school succeeding in its educational mission and preparing students for adult life.
Your role as a teaching assistant involves creating clarity, structure, and safety throughout the school day. You will provide support to students both individually and in groups, in both learning and care. The goal of your work is to enable students to benefit from the education in the best possible way. To succeed in your role, a high degree of professionalism in your approach is required, as well as the ability to adapt your working methods to the students' individual needs, conditions, and daily form.
You will be part of a team where you work closely in collaboration with both teachers, other teaching assistants, and student health personnel. The school's principal is your immediate supervisor. You contribute to creating a culture and an approach that aligns with the school's values.

Qualifications
Requirements include at least one year of experience working with youth or children in adapted schools or equivalent relevant experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. Experience working with low-arousal responses, clear pedagogical methods, and AAC is required. It is advantageous if you also have relevant basic education, such as teaching assistant, nursing assistant, support assistant, or similar.
You should have good physical fitness and mobility, the ability to handle heavy lifting, and participate in students' activities. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, especially oral communication. The job requires good competence in common digital tools.
As a person, you are stable and secure, professional in your role. You are attentive and have a very good ability to collaborate and build good relationships. You are flexible and responsive to the students' individual conditions.

For your interview, you need to bring your passport/national ID and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is to ensure your identity and confirm that you have the right to work in Sweden.
