Study and Career Advisor at Komvux Malmö

We are looking for an engaged and experienced study and career advisor for our municipal adult education in basic and upper secondary subjects. In this role, you will be a key person supporting our students through their educational journey and helping them create good conditions for both further studies and working life.

Responsibilities

As a study and career advisor within vocational upper secondary education, you will work with guidance, administration, collaboration, development, and marketing. You will offer free and independent guidance with a norm-critical, objective, and neutral approach. Through individual conversations and group guidance, you will support students in different phases of their education and participate in teaching about working life, the labor market, and further studies. You will conduct motivational conversations and introduce new students. Administrative tasks are also included, such as reviewing applications and establishing and following up on individual study plans (ISP).

You will collaborate with study and career advisors, teachers, and other school staff as well as external actors, such as other authorities, administrations, and external education providers. Additionally, you will have contact with the industry to optimize support for students. To ensure relevant guidance, you will stay updated on legislation, research, and the labor market and contribute to systematic quality and development work, including specific development assignments. Furthermore, you will participate in information and marketing efforts to increase engagement around adult education and mentor future study and career advisors during their training.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from the study and career advisor program (180 credits).
• Experience working as a study and career advisor within upper secondary education, preferably Komvux.
• Experience working closely with the business community and other authorities.
• Good knowledge of the governing documents of upper secondary school.
• Good digital competence, meaning it is natural to use digital tools as work instruments and aids, as well as a willingness and ability to familiarize yourself with new programs and systems.
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing.

Meritorious:

• Experience working as a study and career advisor within Komvux.
• Experience working with development projects.

You are flexible and can adapt to the changing needs of both students and the organization. The role requires you to be goal- and result-oriented and able to work in a structured manner to support students' progression. You have good collaboration skills and thrive in an environment where cooperation with colleagues and external actors is a natural part of the work. Additionally, you have excellent verbal communication skills, allowing you to explain complex information clearly and accessibly in both individual conversations and group settings. You also understand how students' backgrounds, cultures, and group affiliations affect learning, and you create an inclusive learning environment where all students have the opportunity to succeed.
