To strengthen future competency needs, we at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (BIVA) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund are offering trainee positions. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to participate in the care at BIVA in Lund before completing your specialist training, alongside an experienced mentor. We are now looking for you who are a licensed nurse with an interest in further education in intensive care.

BIVA in Lund is a multidisciplinary unit providing highly specialized intensive care for children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 years. Here, you will meet patients with acute infections, metabolic diseases, and pediatric medical conditions in neurology, oncology, and orthopedics. Our largest patient group consists of children and adolescents with congenital heart defects and surgical malformations. We are one of four pediatric intensive care units in Sweden and have National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) for pediatric cardiac surgery and pediatric surgery. Furthermore, we have an international mission to receive and care for patients with congenital heart defects from Iceland. We are proud to have world-leading results in pediatric intensive care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

During your time as a trainee, we expect you to apply for specialist training in intensive care starting in September 2026. In connection with this, you will also apply for an educational salary, which means you will retain your salary during the specialist training. After you have been accepted into the specialist training, you may be offered a permanent position with us as a specialist nurse, provided that the training is completed. If you do not get into your further education, you will be offered work in one of the department's units while waiting for the next application to open.

Through a mentoring period, where the mentor is always patient-responsible, you will participate in and gain knowledge about the work content for a specialist nurse in a pediatric intensive care unit. As a trainee, you will shadow selected mentors with extensive experience. You will also have theoretical and practical training days covering existing medical technology equipment, medication management, hygiene, and the most common diagnoses you may encounter.

We work with a wish schedule in three shifts with a weekly working time of 36.33 hours. QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice in Swedish healthcare and have at least two years of professional experience. Knowledge of Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. To be eligible for an educational salary, you must have worked as a nurse for at least two years at Sus and not previously received paid training. You should have a strong interest in intensive care and pediatric care and be motivated to further your education.

As a person, you must enjoy working in a team and have good communication skills. Furthermore, you have a view of humanity that is based on respect for the equal value of all people and focus on the best interests of the patient and the organization. You see the whole picture but also the specifics for each patient and their relatives. You see opportunities and want to contribute to development. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
