Do you want to develop school libraries that inspire students and strengthen learning? AcadeMedia is now looking for a centrally employed school librarian for two of our high schools in central Gothenburg. As a centrally employed librarian, you will staff the library at the school. You will also receive professional development and collegial learning with other school librarians within the organization. Are you structured, driven, and relationship-building, and do you want to develop and manage school libraries? Then this position might be for you.

About the position

You will be responsible for developing and managing the school library at the two high schools. Based on AcadeMedia's school library plan, you will work on language development, lead the library council, and collaborate with staff on media and information literacy (MIL) and reading promotion initiatives. You will create a safe and inclusive environment, support the school's work with democracy and values, and ensure a relevant and updated book collection.

You are centrally employed in the organization and will receive a mentor during the first year. You will work under the leadership of the principal but report to the central coordinator for school libraries in high school. Together with other school librarians, you will be part of a network for professional development and collegial learning.

About you

We are looking for someone who is structured, self-driven, and has a good ability to build relationships. As a person, you find it easy to collaborate with both students and staff, you can work both independently and in a group, and you have a strong interest in teaching and learning. You are attentive, communicate clearly, and engage both colleagues and students to promote participation and well-being.

Requirements include having a degree in library and information science or another relevant academic degree. Experience in school libraries or other educational activities is an advantage. You have high digital competence and a strong interest in children's and youth literature. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The employment is a fixed-term position with a scope of 70% and starts from 2026-01-09 or by agreement. The employment extends until 2026-06-30 with the possibility of extension. We are working to coordinate this important function, which in the long term may involve an expansion of the position. The deadline for applications is 2025-12-19. As selection and interviews will be ongoing, the position may be filled before the application deadline.

With us, you will of course receive collective agreement benefits and insurance, as well as wellness grants, pension advice, employee discounts, and the opportunity for advantageous purchases through net and gross salary exchange. If you have questions about the position, please contact Marie Nitzsche at [email protected], coordinator AcadeMedia school libraries - high school.
